At Ned Stevens Gutter Cleaning of Long Island, we're proud to be in the position to help those who are less fortunate. Continue reading to learn more about the Blitz Build Wall Raise program and how Ned Stevens helped make the dream of homeownership a reality for a local family.

What Is Blitz Build Wall Raise?

Habitat for Humanity's Builders Blitz has brought together professional home builders and contractors since 2002 with the goal of helping those in need realize the goal of homeownership. To complete a Blitz Build, builders and professionals work together for a few weeks or some shortened period of time to create safe and affordable housing for families. As an enormous success, the program has resulted in the renovation and/or building of more than 2,000 homes.

In addition to providing safe and dependable housing for families in need, the Blitz offers local businesses an opportunity to get involved with the community and make a direct impact on the lives of those in need. And Ned Stevens Gutter Cleaning of Long Island takes an infinite amount of pride in partnering with our local Habitat for Humanity to participate in this year's Blitz Build Wall Raise.

The History of the Blitz

The program originated back in 2002 when Habitat for Humanity of Wake County, North Carolina partnered with a local home builder to erect an astonishing 12 Habit homes in five days. They were able to achieve this goal at a net cost of $0 due to the donation of materials and labor from partnering builders and various trades.

How Did Ned Stevens Gutter Cleaning Participate in the Blitz?

Regardless of where the home is located, gutters are a must-have feature. And Ned Stevens Gutter Cleaning of Long Island partnered with Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk to donate a full new gutter installation. The gutters are tasked with the critical role of diverting water away from the property to prevent damage.

Failure to have gutters can wreak havoc on the vital parts of the structure, particularly the windows, foundation, siding, and doors. Without gutters, the new homeowner can quickly end up with a hefty repair bill and a gargantuan list of damages — two things no new or seasoned homeowner wants to contend with.

For example, water can pool around the home's foundation and navigate into areas where it's not designed or desired to be. Gutters are a critical piece of the home and work to protect homeowners from potentially catastrophic matters like basement flooding and foundati9on damage.

What Is Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk County?

Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk County is the local affiliate of the global non-profit housing organization. Since 1976, Habitat for Humanity has helped more than 22 million people build, preserve, or rehabilitate housing. Habitat works to build strength, stability, and self-reliance by partnering with families and people who need affordable and reliable housing. Unlike other foundations and nonprofits, homeowners will roll up their sleeves to help improve or build the place they will call home. And in addition to their own sweat equity, homeowners are educated on the necessary steps required for successful homeownership, which can help empower them to manage the mortgage.
